Today, we covered the following organs:

  Blog reflection over Melatonin.  This article is different then those we have seen before.  Consider the intended audience and purpose of the article as you write your reflection.

The Endocrine System

Welcome back!  Let's get right back into it.


  1. The endocrine system sends signals through chemicals called hormones.
  2. These hormones travel through the blood to target cells and change their metabolism.
  3. Various stimuli can cause hormones to be released.
  4. The pituitary gland is often called the "master gland".
  5. The hypothalamus controls the pituitary.
Homework:
  Read Chapter 9.  Provide evidence that you have read it by:
  1. Answering the 1st 10 short answer questions; or
  2. Taking good reading notes and sharing them; or
  3. Defining all vocabulary (words in bold) in the chapter

Sight and Hearing

Some of us got to hearing and some of us didn't.

Reflex Lab

We performed a lab to test reflexes.  We also covered a little bit more of eye anatomy.

Next week, we are going to be working quickly to take the test on Friday.

Please start studying for the midterm.  If it was a concept covered on a previous exam, it is likely to be on the test.

  2. 31 pairs of spinal nerves
