Muscles

There are three types of muscle tissue:

1. Skeletal (That's this chapter)
2. Smooth
3. Cardiac

Muscle cells have many unique structures.

Muscle contractions have several important steps.

1. Signal from nervous system.
2. Action potential in muscle cell
3. Release of calcium ions
4. Calcium binds to actin
5. Myosin pulls actin together.

Homework:

  Draw a sketch of the human body.  Label all of the important muscles.  These can be found on the slides below.
